Pawpaw Circle Workshop with Jonathan Lightbourne from Nature's Compass

Product Details

This workshop is being offered as a result of the ongoing collaboration between The AgraLiving Institute and Nature's Compass Permaculture Design & Project Management.

Workshop attendees will first learn about the basic principles of permaculture as well as discussing the ethics that guide it.

Participants will then explore the benefits that this design has to offer before being given the opportunity to apply their knowledge practically by building, and planting a pawpaw circle!

Participants will also receive a FREE pawpaw circle design to take home with them!

Why should you consider including pawpaw in your garden?
The pawpaw circle is an application of a small permaculture design developed by observing patterns in nature. It is used in many locations and has been tested locally in our Education & Research Garden! The design has numerous benefits which include, and are not limited to:
  • Effectively growing diverse number of plants for consumption in small area
  • Using edge effect, efficiency of space and design
  • Increasing edge available
  • Creating a number of specific environmental niches that allow the plants to thrive with minimal energy input - including human!
  • Pit design allows for atrophy in system - using surplus biomass as nutrition for the pawpaw circle
  • Pit can also be used for disposal of kitchen waste, excess water including gray water, i.e. from the sink or shower

Join us Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 9:00 to 12:00 in our Education & Research Garden!
